Call of Duty: Black Ops

Ok, I admit it. I play video games. I grew up with Zelda, Mario and Luigi, and I've loved them ever since. Although I don't play many first-person-shooter style games, I am fascinated with how involved people can get with the "franchise" of a game. Whether it's Final Fantasy, Halo or some other similar game, people really get into the characters and stories. Call of Duty, a series of games previously set during both World War II and modern times, recently released the newest in the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops, which is set during the Cold War. The ad features normal people walking down a gravel/dirt road shooting automatic weapons while wearing heels and pencil skirts. Kobe Bryant and Jimmy Kimmel make cameos in the ad, and it ends with a guy two fisting his hardware while wearing a fast-food restaurant uniform. In short, it's awesome.

Snickers: Betty White

Few celebrities have the staying power of 88-year-old pop culture darling, Betty White. She really made a comeback in 2010 with an appearance on SNL and a SAG nomination for best actress in "Hot in Cleveland." But this appearance in a Snickers commercial is, in my opinion, her best work of the year.

Print ads can sometimes be ignored completely when you're reading a great article, but these jumped right out at me. I love the clever creative and use of absurd art to draw the eye.

Dove Onslaught

We read a lot about the impact of advertising on youth. Whether it's the debate over violent games causing violence in teens or labeling music lyrics as obscene, there is no end to the discussion about these controversial topics. Advertising to children has long been a topic of interest among cigarette companies, liquor distributors and toy companies, but Dove takes a slightly different look at the marketing of beauty products to young girls.

Swagger Wagon

If you're a parent of young children then you know how important it is for your vehicle to be kid friendly.  Your toddler climbing into the family truckster without falling and cracking her head on the garage floor is usually a good thing. But you also need room. For their stuff. And they have a lot of it. So, what's a cool, hip parent to do? Enter, the Swagger Wagon...
